WhistleBlast's It’s a Jungle Out There!
Hear the lions roar, the elephants stomp and the car horns honk as the WhistleBlast Quartet journeys through city and tropical jungles in this all-ages concert! Featuring familiar songs with a classical bent, this concert allows young and their families to explore works by famous composers such as Saint-Saëns, George Gershwin, Henry Mancini. Fun filled narration and storytelling from the animal kingdom! Highly educational allowing young ones to enjoy and appreciate live music of all sorts close- up; classical and film music with rhythm, singing and percussion instruments as a grand finale to this fun filled concert!

‘Rhapsody in Blue’
WhistleBlast returns with their unique multimedia performance of Igor Stravinsky’s Petrushka and a new musical arrangement of Gershwin’s Rhapsody in Blue. This new addition to the performance is enhanced by thematic visual accompaniments comprised of archival American period footage and a beautiful animated shadow puppet film created by Púca Puppets.

Teacher Training 8th - 12th July in the National Concert Hall
A Department of Education and Skills approved summer course for primary school and SEN teachers (approved for EPV days).
Course facilitator: Mary Curran
Aligned with the primary school music curriculum, this course will encourage and equip teachers with or without a musical background to deliver imaginative, active and educational music sessions in the classroom. The course will deliver practical, hands-on experience in rhythm, percussion, song, composition, “Creative Orchestra”, different instruments, music history, performance and class management; all in an enjoyable and engaging way.
Mary Curran is director and French hornist with the WhistleBlast Quartet which she founded in 2004. She is a freelance professional musician, workshop curator and facilitator. Mary performs with RTÉ and other groups, creating a busy career devising and presenting musical workshops for all ages, both on her own and as part of the WhistleBlast Quartet. She also a UL graduate with an MA in Festive Arts.
This teacher training course is devised and facilitated by Mary, based on the WhistleBlast Quartet’s own publication A Whistle and a Blast for Your Class. The course has been delivered nationwide since 2009 and is presented in an innovative, humorous, educational and structured format while also providing flexible space for creativity.

WhistleBlast Opera Project
WhistleBlast Quartet in collaboration with That’s Life proudly presents MR. PRESIDENT a new operatic work with participants in leading roles from Galway’s special arts organization: That’s Life and Electric Dreams, also including young musicians from Ceol na Mara Youth Orchestra.
This unique, wonderful new opera, full of power and protest, will include music composed and performed by all participants in That's Life, including original gamelan music accompaniment led by Andrew Madec. All performing with WhistleBlast, Opera Mezzo Soprano Catherine Donnelly and jazz guitarist Aengus Hackett.

WhistleBlast Composition Programme 2024
The Quartet is delighted to return to schools and youth orchestras nationwide. Multiple participants will join WhistleBlast in composing a brand new 2024 work through a number of workshops culminating in final performances in local venues, with a finale performance, which will include up to 200 participating students.
Each participating group and other school students will also have an opportunity to enjoy multiple WhistleBlast live and innovative multimedia performances in their own locations: Tralee, Mayo, Dublin, Galway, Limerick and Meath.

WhistleBlast Schools Concert and Workshop
Partnering with Music Generation South Dublin, the WhistleBlast Quartet will host a workshop and live performance for schools on Friday 3rd May in the Civic Theatre, Tallaght.
The performance will feature a varied repertoire including Mancini’s Pink Panther, the music of Tchaikovsky, Satie and Gershwin narrated and performed by the WhistleBlast Quartet! With lots of familiar and new sounds, this concert is a great introduction to wonderful music for young audiences.
All music arranged by the quartet’s acclaimed Saxophonist Kenneth Edge.

WhistleBlast Composition Programme 2024
The Quartet is delighted to return to schools and youth orchestras nationwide. Multiple participants will join WhistleBlast in composing a brand new 2024 work through a number of workshops culminating in final performances in local venues, with a finale performance, which will include up to 200 participating students.
Each participating group and other school students will also have an opportunity to enjoy multiple WhistleBlast live and innovative multimedia performances in their own locations: Tralee, Mayo, Dublin, Galway, Limerick and Meath.

WhistleBlast Schools Concert and Workshop
Partnering with Music Generation South Dublin, the WhistleBlast Quartet will host a workshop and live performance for schools on Friday 3rd May in the Civic Theatre, Tallaght.
The performance will feature a varied repertoire including Mancini’s Pink Panther, the music of Tchaikovsky, Satie and Gershwin narrated and performed by the WhistleBlast Quartet! With lots of familiar and new sounds, this concert is a great introduction to wonderful music for young audiences.

Teacher Training 8th - 12th July in the National Concert Hall
A Department of Education and Skills approved summer course for primary school and SEN teachers (approved for EPV days).
Course facilitator: Mary Curran
Aligned with the primary school music curriculum, this course will encourage and equip teachers with or without a musical background to deliver imaginative, active and educational music sessions in the classroom. The course will deliver practical, hands-on experience in rhythm, percussion, song, composition, “Creative Orchestra”, different instruments, music history, performance and class management; all in an enjoyable and engaging way.
Mary Curran is director and French hornist with the WhistleBlast Quartet which she founded in 2004. She is a freelance professional musician, workshop curator and facilitator. Mary performs with RTÉ and other groups, creating a busy career devising and presenting musical workshops for all ages, both on her own and as part of the WhistleBlast Quartet. She also a UL graduate with an MA in Festive Arts.
This teacher training course is devised and facilitated by Mary, based on the WhistleBlast Quartet’s own publication A Whistle and a Blast for Your Class. The course has been delivered nationwide since 2009 and is presented in an innovative, humorous, educational and structured format while also providing flexible space for creativity.

WhistleBlast Quartet in collaboration with That’s Life proudly presents MR. PRESIDENT a new operatic work with participants in leading roles from Galway’s special arts organization: That’s Life and Electric Dreams, also including young musicians from Ceol na Mara Youth Orchestra.
This unique, wonderful new opera, full of power and protest, will include music composed and performed by all participants in That's Life, including original gamelan music accompaniment led by Andrew Madec. All performing with WhistleBlast, Opera Mezzo Soprano Catherine Donnelly and jazz guitarist Aengus Hackett.

‘CREATIVE MUSIC MAKING FOR PRIMARY SCHOOLS’
Whether you have a musical background or not, this fun and informative course for primary school teachers delivers practical, hands-on instruction in rhythm, percussion, song, composition, Creative Orchestra, musical history and instruments, performance, and class management.

WhistleBlast Composition Programme 2023
The quartet is delighted to return to and add new schools and youth orchestras, nationwide, to join the group in composing a brand new work through multiple workshops culminating in final performances in local venues and a finale performance, including all participating students, in Black Box Theatre, Galway in May.
Each participating group will also have an opportunity to enjoy multiple WhistleBlast live performances in their own locations: Tralee, Mayo, Dublin, Galway, Limerick and Meath.

Grand finale concert 'Stand Up & Deliver!' - Black Box Theatre Galway
WhistleBlast performs the completed final composition by all nationwide students in a 6PM free concert for all family, friends and the general public. This short concert will be opened by Ceol na Mara Youth Orchestra and WhistleBlast who will perform some of their own repertoire as well as along side all the musicians.
